Research areas at the Natural Museum
The museum’s research areas include; entomology, freshwater ecology, soil biology, ecology of cultural landscapes, faunistics and bioacoustics.
The museum is part of the Advisory Research Committee for The Natural Museum Aarhus and the State and University Library. The committee reports to the Ministry of Culture on scientific research results and plans for future research.
The majority of the museum’s collection is kept in archives; skeletons, animal skins, birds, mammals, snails, mussels, preserved insects and much more – only a small part of the collection is displayed for the public. The collection is used in scientific research in relation to fieldwork, mostly in Denmark.
